Friends: it’s been 4 weeks since we shipped Logcast to the App Store in Sweden and so much has happened in such a short while that we must pause to share some highlights and news.

Just before the app went live at 5pm on that memorable Friday April 9 launch day afternoon, Dagens Industri announced our arrival with a front-page piece. Since then, we’ve had millions of earned media impressions and just last week, we were named as the newcomer set to take on Clubhouse and big tech by our friends at Sifted.

But, beyond all the noise, here’s the number that really got us: 30,000. Since launching Logcast, our community has streamed over 30,000 minutes worth of content. How could it be that with no marketing, and with the app only available for download in Sweden, we’d already built such a powerful community?

We believe the world is hungry. Hungry for a new kind of social media company, hungry to get back to our roots. The internet was initially created as a place for us to be our true, authentic selves. But our world has gotten away from that. We have a chance to change this with Logcast, building a new way to share and connect, using the one thing that makes us truely human — language.

Among this community ready for change was a group of supporters — some of the biggest names in entertainment, tech and business. We paused and looked around at the people raising their hands to help and invited a few of them to jump in and share our journey.

So today, we’re super excited to introduce some new members of the Logcast investor and advisor family that we’ve curated to help bring our vision to life.

Our family now includes Adam Jafer (co-founder, VOI Technology), Swedish music executive Jonas Siljemark, Tahero Nori (founder, TechBuddy), tech entrepreneur Metin Asqari, Njord Ventures and Starbright Invest. These new backers are welcomed by existing investors and advisors Juan Serruya (ex Spotify, CEO Datia), Niklas Carlheim-Mueller (former VP @ Ericsson), blockchain executive Simon Telian and Nomad Consulting Group.

It’s time to build. And it’s only the beginning.

Adam Jafer, co-founder
VOI Technology

“What really caught my attention with Logcast was their expertise in the audio space and how they have developed a deep understanding of audio creators’ needs by putting the creators at the center of their product development to address their key pain points,” said Jafer.

“Logcast has high growth potential and I have experience building and scaling consumer products to millions of users which I will use to advise Logcast during their growth journey. I believe audio will be the primary form of content consumption in the coming years and Logcast is in a great position to capture value for users who are moving more towards audio based consumption.”

Juan Serruya,
former Head of Engineering New York @ Spotify // CEO, Datia

“I am extremely impressed with Leni and Johanna’s ability to form an engaged community from scratch. Logcast’s beta users and content is among the best I’ve seen anywhere, Logcast’s voice first experience creates a deeper connection within the community that text/image based platforms can only dream of,” said Serruya.

“I spent more than half a decade at Spotify building mobile audio experiences, as an engineer and later on as Head of Engineering in New York. I will be supporting Logcast with a focus on product, engineering and building a world class team.”

Jonas Siljemark, former President Warner Music Nordics

“Coming from a background in the music business I have seen how the so called “audio segment” with social audio has taken a huge upswing and I believe that with the passion and dedication from Johanna and Leni Logcast has a huge potential.”

NJORD Ventures

“Social audio is probably the hottest startup space right now. When text is not enough, and video is too much; social audio is just right. In the middle of this new and fast-growing space, we have Logcast, the social podcasting platform that is creating a new social format with their short-form audio logs, democratizing the audio industry and disrupting the podcast industry as it stands.

“Logcast is an example of a company that is an excellent fit for us at Njord. First, Johanna and Leni are extremely driven entrepreneurs, with proven experience and a vast network. Second, we see a true international potential and a space that is driven by disruptive technology. We love to back driven entrepreneurs with large ambitions”.

Niklas Carlheim-Mueller, former Vice President @ Ericsson

“With my long experience of developing disruptive products and businesses from idea to global market, understanding what is needed to scale, I believe I am able to advise Leni and Johanna on a broad range of related matters, and help accelerate sustainable growth and reach global adoption,” said Carlheim-Mueller.

“I believe the non-real time nature of the service, that users can decide when to listen to something and engage, gives them a powerful platform to connect and stay connected while preserving their freedom of parallel use of their time, which aligns with the pace and multi-tasking nature of today’s connected society. This is a key intrinsic strength of the Logcast service.”

Tahero Nori, founder TechBuddy

“Logcast’s unfair advantage over other podcasting products is that it is an all-in-one platform combining audio creation and distribution, with community engagement and monetization tools. The creators come first for the tools, and stick around for the network. From a strategic perspective, this helps Logcast get closer to its goal of owning the full stack of creative and business tools for creators,” said Nori.

“I am also particularly impressed with the upfront investment and efforts in developing a best-in-class streaming infrastructure from scratch with such speed, helping Logcast deliver the best user experience to its users worldwide. Unlike other social audio products in market today using voice call workflows, this base will be the chariot that carries the “winner” of social audio forward.”

Logcast is currently available for download from the App Store in Sweden.
