Logcast, the social network for audio creators, has launched an early version of their Conversational AI “Stämma”.

Designed to bring meaningful connection between Logcast and its community, Stämma recreates human interaction at scale in the platform, extending the experience of social interactions into something with more of a human touch.

“Of all the sectors where human touch still matters, social is perhaps the most significant,” says Johanna Hoof, Chief Product Officer at Logcast. “There is a massive gap between people’s desire for social connection and the actual experience of it today. That’s where Stämma comes in.”

Translating to “voice” in Swedish, Stämma uses AI-powered social listening tools to pick up on conversation themes of users in real time, and personalize messages shared to the community.

A recent study showed that one in two Gen Z (54%) and Millennials (51%) reported that they regularly feel lonely — a figure much higher than that of other generations. The same study also showed that, despite the increased demand for authenticity and openness about mental health, Gen Z was the most likely to say that they felt too embarrassed to admit that they felt lonely to others (58% vs the average of 48%).

It’s one issue that Stämma aims to fix at Logcast, by being constantly available to users of the app and communicating with them through simple “human to human” conversation.

When we listen to a person speaking, we notice variations in pitch, energy, tonal quality, and rhythm, signals that get lost in text-based social media. By processing audio on Logcast, we can break down recordings into signals of how our members are feeling.

“The human voice can divulge a great deal of information about a speaker,” says Axel G. Ekström, who is a researcher with the division of Speech, Music & Hearing at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. “This information is transmitted through a richness of different cues, including voice quality, pitch, intonation, and rhythm. As listeners we often react to all of these qualities — sometimes without even recognizing that we do so. In that regard, a voice is very much like a face — an essentially unique constellation of qualities and traits.”

You can meet Stämma when you sign up in the app, she will be there waiting in your Direct Log chat and you can listen to her Logs on the official @Logcast account.

Logcast is available worldwide on the iOS App Store. Download the app here.
